Aromatherapists in 40 countries around the world due to their quality and effectiveness. Sp Essential Oils are
sourced directly from growers in the Mediterranean countries, England and all around the world. They have
been mixed and blended in our clean rooms at our laboratory and warehouse in Hinckley, England since 1974,
for 35 years.

Sp Essential Oils and Essentia Shirley Price products have an international reputation for quality and
consistency of our oils and training. 80% of production is exported all over world through international
distributors on a wholesale basis and over the internet on a retail basis. Because we buy by the drum directly
from distillers you can be sure of quality and be able to see the chemistry and certification of your oils.

Ever since its formation in by Shirley and Len Price the Sp Factory has supplied the public on a retail basis and
those who are trained professional aromatherapists on a wholesale basis. Sp is a member of IFPA - itself
originally formed by Shirley Price as the ISPC and now a Charitable Trust. IFPA is dedicated to representing
Professional Aromatherapists all around the world and itself headquartered in Hinckley near our factory. We
train aromatherapists for IFPA membership. Our training college, the Shirley Price International College of
Aromatherapy 'SPICA' is recognised as providing the leading training in Professional Aromatherapy. Over
5000 students have taken Sp courses Aromatherapy training is now provided by colleges all over the UK in
accordance with National Educational Standards and an individual commitment to excellence.

Sp Essential Oils

Essential oils are extracted from plants by various processes; normally by distilling the plant matter and
extracting all the volatile properties.Most essential oils are antiseptic; many also fight fungal infections such as
athletes foot and others combat viruses such as the common cold and warts. Of particular importance is that all
essential oils are normalizing.
True essential oils are complete in themselvesno part of them has been extracted and nothing has been
added.

Aromatherapists believe that untouched wholeness is of paramount importance. It is this wholeness of the oil
which gives it its normalizing properties. It may be many of the desirable properties of essential oils are due to
components present in only tiny quantities and some like chamazulene which are a product of the steam
distillation process itself.

How to use the oils
Massage
This is the most effective method of using the oils, combining their properties with the therapeutic power of
touch. The skin absorbs the oil over a large surface area. The oils should not be used undiluted, but should
be combined with an odourless carrier oil such as peachnut, grapeseed or sweet almond. Generally a dilution
of about 3% essential oil is recommended - approximately 6 drops in 2 teaspoons of carrier oil.
Baths
Bathing is a simple, effective and pleasant way to use essential oils - water itself has therapeutic powers which
enhance those of the oils. Add 5 - 7 drops of oil to a bath which has already been run and immerse yourself for
up to 20 minutes. You can dilute the oils with a carrier if you wish. The heat of the water aids the absorption
through the skin, whilst you also inhale the vapour. Use the same method for facial steaming. Do not use
undiluted oils in baths for babies and young children. Take care with plastic baths - there are a few oils which
may cause staining.
Vaporisation
All essential oils are antiseptic and evaporate easily, so they make very good air-fresheners. Different oils
create different atmospheres, for example, relaxing sandalwood or clary sage are good for parties and
peppermint clears your mind when you need to work. Put a few drops in a small bowl of water and place it on a
source of warmth or use a nebulizer or aromastone all designed to vaporize oils.
Perfumes
The oils may be used on their own or blended to make natural perfumes. Try experimenting with different
combinations, and mix with a base vegetable oil or non-fragrant alcohol.
Essentia Shirley Price - Care for

The essence of aromatherapy is creating blends of essential oils for specific purposes. When two or more
essential oils are combined the result is a synergistic blend, the beneficial effects of which can be far greater
than those of the individual oils which make up the blend. To learn the art of synergistic blending requires
years of dedication and experience.
The Care for range is a unique concept developed by Shirley Price Aromatherapy, which enables you to care
for yourself in your own home. Shirley Price Aromatherapy has created a range of unique blends of essential
oils designed to address specific health needs.

The Care for range of pure essential oils should NEVER be applied directly to the skin. The Care for range
can be used for massage by adding them to a carrier (15 drops to 50ml carrier oil/lotion) or alternatively you
may wish to try the ready blended range of massage oils/lotions.

Pure essential oils mixes are available in a 10ml size whilst the ready mixed lotions or oils are available in a
125ml size.
